Chopard Mille Miglia Chronograph, Rose Gold
Chopard has been the official timekeeper and sponsor of the Mille Miglia for 25 years and Chopard co-president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele even participates in the race himself. Through the Mille Miglia, Scheufele met Andrea Zagato, owner of the eponymous Milanese bodywork specialist. The two decided to collaborate on a special Mille Miglia limited edition for this 25th anniversary and today we introduce you to the Chopard Mille Miglia Zagato Chronograph.
Mille Miglia Zagato Chronograph
Each year Chopard produces a new limited edition chronograph to commemorate that year's Mille Miglia. Typically this fake watch is a chronograph with a 24-hour hand for a second timezone, a three-register chronograph layout, and a date display; the Mille Miglia limited editions are also always COSC certified chronometers. This is exactly what we have driving the Mille Miglia Zagato Chronograph.
Chopard Mille Miglia Zagato Chronograph, DLC Stainless Steel And Rose Gold and All DLC Stainless Steel
For this collaboration, Chopard also designed the 42.5mm case, which comes in two variations. First is an all stainless steel version with a black DLC coating and matching engraved steel bezel. The other option features the addition of a rose gold bezel with a bright red aluminum insert for the 24-hour time indication. It would be tempting to call this fake watch "two-tone," but the gold here is just an accent and remains understated.
Mille Miglia Zagato Chronograph Pusher
It is in the aesthetic details that Zagato's role is found. The chronograph pusher at 2 o'clock matches the bezel (either gold or black, both with a red lacquer tip). To invoke the beautiful leather interiors that are one of Zagato's signatures, the Mille Miglia Zagato Chronograph comes on a stitched bareina leather strap that recalls the body shapes of Zagato cars and the detailing of the interiors. A "Z" is also found on the crown and a micro-pattern of tonal "Zs" covers the dial as well. It's a pattern that only reveals itself in the right light, taking on a more reserved look at most angles.
Mille Miglia Zagato Chronograph Caseback
Turning the fake watch over you'll find the "1000 Miglia" arrow logo, "Special ZAGATO Edition," and "Limited 500" marked on the caseback.
Closer Look At The Mille Miglia Zagato Chronograph's Dial
On the wrist the Mille Miglia Zagato Chronograph wears easier than you might expect from a 42.5mm x 14.85mm thick watch. The strap is extremely soft and hugs the wrist, while still providing enough support for the hefty case. The dial treatment isn't going to be for everyone, but it's well executed and avoids being too over-the-top.
Chopard Mille Miglia Zagato Chronograph, DLC Stainless Steel and 18k Rose Gold
Only 500 pieces will be made in each color, with the all steel Mille Miglia Zagato Chronograph priced at $8,100 and the rose gold accented model coming in at $9,900. The fake watch is exclusively available through Chopard boutiques and Chopard e-commerce.
