Introducing The Christophe Claret X-TREM-1 Chocolate, A Combination Of Red Gold And PVD Titanium

Christophe Claret is known for his inventive, if sometimes unusual, complications, and since first being introduced in 2012 the X-TREM-1 has become one of the brand's flagship models. It utilizes two tubes, each containing a suspended sphere to tell the time and at the center is a large, inclined tourbillon. Everything from this time telling mechanism to the shape of the case is unique and today the X-TREM-1 gets an update with a new case crafted from a combination of chocolate PVD titanium and red gold, giving the otherwise futuristic fake watch a warm glow.

About one year ago we showed you the X-TREM-1 Pinball, a unique piece created for Only fake watch 2013. The new X-TREM-1 Chocolate could not be any more different from it's cousin. Instead of the bright blue and orange we have a subdued color palette of rich brown and red gold, complemented by a matching matte alligator strap.

You might be wondering just how exactly the X-TREM-1 work. The two sapphire tubes on either side of the case each contain a hollow steel sphere that is not physically connected to the movement at all. Instead, the movement contains silk threads holding magnets that move up and down to control the spheres, effectively giving you a retrograde display. These magnets have to be extremely precise so as not to interfere with the functioning of the movement. Here the spheres are colored to match the red gold of the case as well as the printed indexes.

At the center of the X-TREM-1 is the massive flying tourbillon. It is inclined at 30 degrees and faces the wearer of the fake watch ?you can see just how ornate the cage is here, giving it a real presence. The tourbillon is mounted on a convex titanium mainplate, which further enhance the appearance of the floating apparatus, and the crystal is curved to keep the view clear.

We don't yet have any rear-view shots of the X-TREM-1 Chocolate, but you can see here on an earlier version what the caseback looks like. You get another look at the movement through a sapphire window (the other look is through the large smoked sapphire plat on the front) and there are the two adjustment knobs. Little handles pop out, allowing you to set the fake watch with the adjuster on the right and to wind the fake watch with the adjuster on the left. The two barrels hold about 50 hours of power reserve.

The Christophe Claret X-Trem-1 Chocolate is limited to only 8 pieces and each will retail for $308,000. For more, visit Christophe Claret online.
